So, what’s up with that? The reality behind all the headlines you’ve seen recently is that the color of the year 2016 chosen by Pantone is actually the blending between two shades – Rose Quartz and Serenity. However, both colors were chosen to represent the colors for next year.

As Leatrice Eiseman states below, the blend between the two wishes to send a message about connection, wellness, order and peace.

Nowadays, consumers are in a continuous search for the antidote to modern stress and problems. Most of us have found our release in mindfulness and well-being. There are colors that psychologically fulfill our need for security. Pantone specialists have discovered that by combining Rose Quartz and Serenity, you get a welcoming shade that embraces both the rose tones and the cooler vibes of this tranquil blue, which reflects connection and wellness, giving people a soothing sense of serenity and peace.

Next year we’re getting ready to challenge the traditional perceptions of color association. As we still experience gender blur in many parts of the world, this more unilateral approach to color is coinciding with societal movements toward gender equality and fluidity, the consumer’s increased comfort with using color as a form of expression, a generation that has less concern about being typecast or judged and an open exchange of digital information that has opened our eyes to different approaches to color usage.
